Basanti Devi College was established in 1959 . This is an undergraduate women's college located in Kolkata affiliated to University of Calcutta.
The mission of the college has always been the empowerment of women through higher education and social consciousness.
Basanti Devi College offers various courses such as B.A - English (G & H), Philosophy (G & H), Bengali (G & H), History (G & H), Sanskrit (G & H), Pol. Science (G & H), and Education (G & H).
Here there is a very good college library having more than 25,000 text books. Library is equiped with 4 computers. UGC has granted fund for purchasing hardware. All books in the Library are being cataloged through a Library Automation Software.
