West Bengal State University is the latest formed University, also popular as Barasat State University. University of Calcutta has shifted the affiliation of all Colleges of North 24-Parganas districts to West Bengal State University, which is located at Barasat Government College annexe building at Barasat in North 24 Parganas and the campus of the Barasat State University has been developed on Barrackpore Road in Barasat. West Bengal State University has started functioning from the Academic Session 2008-09, on 26th May 2008 and running successfully without any disclaims.

How to reach the Barasat University Campus (West Bengal State University)?

West Bengal State University (Barasat State University) is connected with the city by 'Barrackpore Road', road connects Barasat to Barrackpore. One should come to 'Colony More of Barasat' and from there take Van/Rickshaw/Auto/Bus towards Barrackpore Road (3-4Kms from Colony More). Come to 'Kajipara' Stoppage on Barrackpur Road and ask anybody for the Barasat University.

If any one coming from Barrackpore end then take the Private bus No. 81 and ask the conductor for 'Kajipara Bus stop', which is after the Nilgunj bazar.
