Saraswati, the goddess of education, puja generally celebrated in each and every Schools, Colleges and Universities in Bengal. Students' celebrate Saraswati Puja for getting the blessing from Goddess Saraswati to have a bright career. Saraswati Maa is the idol wearing 'Basanti' colored saree and with 'Bina' in her hand. Seating on Lotus, Natioal Flower of India, (Padma phool) with gooses Saraswati Maa usually comes to the world to bless students.

Saraswati Puja date in the year 2010: -

Saraswati Puja scheules to be happened in Bengal on the 5th Day of 'Magh' month of Bengali Calendar 1417. At the end of winter season in Bengal; normally between January and February of every year 'Saraswati Puja' celebrated. Date of Saraswati Puja in the year 2010 is on 20th January 2010. Saraswati Puja also known as 'Basant Panchami', as its held of fifth day of 'Basant' season in Bengal.

How Saraswati Puja celebrated in Bengal?

Students of Schools, Colleges and Universities of Bengal arranges Saraswati Puja in the school/college/university or in the tuition centres. Boys generally wears traditional dress of Bengal i.e., White colored or Multi colored Punjabi with Pajamas or Dhoti and Girls wears Basanti colored Sarees in Saraswati Puja. It is the Tradition of Bengal, which is still maintained, that every girls whether young or aged, wear Sarees and offer prayer to Saraswati Maa.

Without giving 'Anjali' (prayer to Saraswati Maa) to the education goddess, students don't take food. Bengali students don't even eat 'Kool' (fruit) before Saraswati Puja. 'Koool' is the main prasad given to Saraswati Puja.

In some schools & Colleges of Bengal celebrate Saraswati Puja by arranging Functions featuring Songs, Drama, Shruti Natak (Play), Dance, Abbrity etc, as Saraswati Maa is the God of education alongside cultural activities.

So, prepare for Saraswati Puja, one of the best Traditional Festivals of Bengal, on 20th January 2010 this year and pray to God for bright future.
