Biodata of Devanand Konwar - Governor of West Bengal

Sri Debanand Kunwar is one of the senior most congressmen from Assam, North Eastern State of India, and Sri D.Konwar is the present Governors of Indian state West Bengal and Bihar.

Career of Shri Devanand Konwar


Debanand Konwar started his career as a Lecturer in English Department in Cotton College, located in Guwahati Assam. Then Mr. Devananda Konwar joinned ‘American Standard Vacuum Oil Company’ in Mumbai in the year 1961 as a Marketing Manager. In the year 1968-69 Shri Debanand Konwar (Governor of West Bengal from 2009) established Guwahati College and became the founder Principal. Late in November 1969 Shri Devananda Konwar, Governor of Bihar State, joined Guwahati High Court Bar and practiced (also in Supreme Court of India) as an Advocate till 1991. Later half of his life is known to all; afterward Shri Devananda Konwar, Congressman, served for the states Assam, Mizoram Bihar etc and at last became the Honorable Governor of Bihar in July 2009.

Political life of Shri Devananda Konwar


Honourable governor of West Bengal, Shri Devananda Konwar joined the Indian National Congress Party in the year 1955 as a Leader of Students. Sri Debananda Konwar selected for the first time as the Cabinet minister in the state government of Assam in the year 1991 under Hiteswar Saikia Government and later in the year Sri Debanand Kunwar has been appointed as Cabinet Minister of Assam State in the year 2001 in Tarun Gogoi Government.

Shri Devanand Konwar became the Governor of Bihar in the month of July, 2009, preceded by Shri R.L.Bhatia, ex-Governor of Bihar and serving Bihar very well. After seeing his responsibility towards the Indian State of Bihar, West Bengal Government also choosed Shri Devananda Konwar as the Governor of Bengal in the month of December, 2009, preceeded by Shri Gopal Krishna Gandhi, ex-Governor of West Bengal.
