Holi Festival in West Bengal – Dol Purnima
What is DOL Jatra/Yatra or Holi Festival/Utsav in India and in West Bengal? Find out what Holi / Dol / Rang Utsav / Festival means.
Dol Purnima for Bengalese and Holi Festival for rest of the communities – But, the reason and the procedure of Celebrating Holi / Dol is same for all human beings. Dol Yatra or Holi Festival is known as Festival of Colors.
Holi Festival normally happens on the Purnima Day, which is called DOL Purnima – The history says Sri Krishna Started to play this Rang Utsav with his Sakhis (Girl friends) in Brindyaban. DOL Jatra or Holi Festival is all about playing with different Colors of Aabeer / Abir (powder like dust material created with soil in different colors).
Rang Barse Bheege Chunarya, the famous Hindi song of Amitabh Bachchan for the Occasion of Holi to recent days Rang De Basanti of Amir Khan – serves the same message that enjoy Holi with Rang (Colors) and make everyone Colorful.
But for me, the meaning of Holi Festival or Dol Utsav is something more than this. I think Human Being has many phases in life journey like Sadness, Happiness, Tiredness, Loneliness etc and the Color Festival comes to the life of human every year to serve that these Feelings are part of life and we need to enjoy our life with all of those feelings (colors of life).
My message to all citizens of every country is to Celebrate Holi with Colors of joy, colors of happiness, Colors of friendship, Colors of love and all other colors you want to paint in your life. Happy Holi. May Divine Fill Your Life With Colors Of Joy. Wish You All A Very Happy and Colorful Holi Festival.
