BJP Leader Tathagata Roy
Tathagata Roy is an eminent politician from West Bengal. Tathagata Roy is a leader of the Bhartiya Janata Party, known as BJP. Tathagata Roy also has been serving as the president of the West Bengal state unit of BJP since 2006. Tathagata Roy is the elder brother of TMC leader and MP cum minister Saugata Roy.

Biography of Tathagata Roy
Apart from being a politician, Tathagata Roy is also a distinguished engineer as well as an author. The date of birth of Tathagata Roy is 14 September 1945. The place of birth of Tathagata Roy is Kolkata. The educational career of Tathagata Roy has been very bright all through. Tathagata Roygot a rank in the school leaving examination. Tathagata Roy is also a Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Scholar. Tathagata Roy then pursued Civil Engineering in the celebrated Bengal Engineering College in Shibpur, Howrah, and then joined the Indian Railways as an engineer. Tathagata Roy served in the Indian railways as a General Manager, and then as the Chief Engineer (Design) in the Metro Railways, Calcutta.
Tathagata Roy sought to voluntary retirement in 1990 from Railways. Then, Tathagata Roy joined as a professor in the Jadavpur University. In fact Tathagata Roy was instrumental in establishing the Department of Construction Engineering in Jadavpur University. Tathagata Roy was also the Chairman of TTTI Calcutta (2000 to 2005). Tathagata Roy also has a Law Degree from the University of Calcutta.
Tathagata Roy was fascinated by Hinduism and Hindutva, and accordingly he choose to become a Swayamsevak in 1986. Tathagata Roy formally joined BJP in 1990. Tathagata Roy became the President of its West Bengal unit in 2006 by replacing Mr. Ashim Ghosh.
