Major fire broke out at Maniktala – Kolkata

After stepfen Court, a major fire broke out in a godown at Murari Pukur of Manuktala. Now the fire is under control.

A fire broke out in a 50 years old building at Murari Pukur of Maniktala. Previously it was an ice factory, then converted into a cold storage of potatoes and presently it is a cold storage of vegetables, eggs etc.

Yesterday evening local people observed ammonia gas leak from the cold storage. Fire brigade arrived on the spot yesterday. They inspected the cold storage but found nothing. Today the fire broke out.

25 fire brigade engines ultimately succeeded in controlling the fire. Now the fire is under control and there is no information of casualty so far. It is learnt that there was no fire fighting equipments in the cold storage.
