Laxmi puja is one of the big festival among the festivals of West Bengal. Lakshmi Puja Is celebrated in all the houses of West Bengal. Goddess Lakshmi is known as the Goddess of Wealth. Lakshmi puja is celebrated after the Durga Puja festival in West Bengal. It is believed that Lakshmi is one of the daughter of Goddess Durga who symbolizes wealth, peace and prosperity. Lakshmi Puja is celebrated on a full moon day or otherwise known as Purnima Night. Lakshmi Puja time schedule is maintained well by the devoted. Many Bengali Recipes are cooked and offered to Goddess Laxmi in this Puja. Because it is believed that Goddess Lakshmi visits homes of all the devotees and replenishes them with wealth. Goddess Lakshmi is represented generally as a beautiful golden woman, who usually sitting or standing on a lotus which is her her symbol. The other names of Lakshmi are Sri and which attained importance as the consort of Vishnu.So Goddess Lakshmi is the Goddess of Wealth, emerged from the ocean forth fully grown because she came out of the deep sea during churning of the milk ocean. Then Goddess Lakshmi was married to the God of Creator Vishnu and has a clear share in Vishnu's activities as preserver.
