New face in West Bengal politics - Abhijit Mukherjee

Abhijit Mukherjee, son of Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee is a candidate from Congress in West Bengal Bidhan Sabha Election 2011. This is the first time he is contesting in election from Nalhati constituency and being the son of Pranab Mukherjee, Abhijit Mukherjee is attracting the maximum attention.

Both Congress and Trinamool Congress have nominated many new faces in West Bengal Bidhan Sabha Election 2011. Abhijit Mukherjee is one of those candidates who were never in politics before. Abhijit Mukherjee has left his secure job as a senior executive in a PSU to join politics. Abhijit Mukherjee is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Jadavpur University and before joining Congress party he was CSR General Manager of Steel Authority of India (SAIL). This 48 years old Mechanical Engineer has resigned from his lucrative job and entered an uncertain field as a trainee. In this assembly poll Abhijit is contesting from Nalhati constituency of Birbhum district.

In this West Bengal Bidhan Sabha Election 2011, many candidates are from other fields of life, with no political background. Although Abhijit Mukherjee is from a family where the head of the family is one of the top most political personality of India since long but Abhijit was never in politics before 2011. Professor and theatre personality Bratya Basu, actor Chiranjit, Debasree Roy, Amit Mitra, ex CBI chief Upen Biswar and many other candidates are at the top of their respective professions. The more such people enters politics, it would be better for Indian politics as politics in our country needs fresh air, fresh mind.
