Tarakeshwar is in the Hooghly district of West Bengal and it is a religious place of West Bengal. It is a town and is famous for the religious visits every year especially during the monsoons and this place becomes very much crowdy during the month of "Sravan"(July - August) as many followers of Lord Shiva visit this place for worshiping and praying God. Maha- Shivratri is also a important day to visit this place. The Maha Shivratri is one of the most important festival of this seasons and is celebrated with lots of fun by the people there as well as thousands and lacks of tourists visiting this place in this day. The festivals is celebrated with a big fair near the temple. The festival is celebrated in a grandeur style in the month of February or March, just few days before the festival of Holi.

Kolkata's Dum-Dum airport is the nearest airport from Tarakeshwar and it is just 58 kms away from Tarakeshwar. You can hire a taxi from the Dum Dum airport to Tarakeshwar with a fare of about Rs 750.
Another way is the railway and the nearest station is Howrah junction which is 30 km away from Tarakeshwar. This is the cheapest way to reach Tarakeshwar as here you can hire a taxi or else you can get a bus straight to Tarakeshwar, now the choice is yours. Tarakeshwar also has a railway station which is connected with the Howrah station and you can get into a train to Tarakeshwar for reaching up faster.

The summers in Tarakeshwar is from the month of March to May and summers are hot enough. The temperature during the summers varies from 35 to 45 degree Celsius and summers are not a appropriate time to visit this place.
The winters are from December to February and the temperature is around 10 degree Celsius during this time. This is one of the best time to visit this place.
Monsoons are from June to September and due to religious believes this is the most crowdy time here and the place especially the temple becomes overcrowded during the early morning times.
June to September is best for short trips and visits to the temples. The best time to visit is in between the month of October to March and do not forget to take your woolens.
