Gyona bori, kutir shilpa of midnapur

A popular home-made product from midnapur

There are several home-made things available in the market out of which Goyna bori is one of the popular products. The meaning is jewelry shaped bori. This is completely a home-made product of Midnapur district. Moreover it is one of the export items from Midnapur district. A long back this was an art of each and every home in villages. Housewives used to make this and it became an art of making bori.

Gradually with the passage of time, this Kutir shilpa is becoming a rare species in home. The amount of time and manual labor consumed for this is really become tough for today's woman. To make it professionally we need to take the help of technology, but sad enough we are not concentrating on it to make a financially feasible marketable product.
