Mythology about Devi Annapurna & Annapurna Puja


A short mythology about Devi Annapurna. Today is the Maha Asthami Puja of Maa Annapurna-another form of Devi Durga. Annapurna - the Goddess of ‘Anna’ or Rice.

Maa Annapurna is the formation of Devi Durga. Today we are in to the Maha Asthami Puja of the same. Its a belief that if you worship the Devi Annapurna then you will never fall into hunger. She is the Devi to feed her devotees with all the good things.

Before Lord Rama worship Devi Durga after coming back from Banbash of 14 years, he worshiped Devi Durga. And that is the time we usually celebrate the Durga Puja. Thats the celebration for victory of True over Lies.

Devi Annapurna was worshiped as Devi Durga prior to that. Thats the story behind this Puja.

Normally Annapurna Pujas are celebrated into the households. There are very few clubs or Puja committees who get part in to this Puja.

So please get ready and search for your nearest Devi Annapurna and have the blessings.
