CHANDANNAGAR

Chandannagar is a city located near the city of Kolkata and it is in the Hooghly district of West Bengal. The city is a former French colony. It is a small city or rather you can call it a town. The town is an interesting place to visit. There are many picnic spots in and around the city and there are also some museums, parks, churches and temples to visit. It is a good option for a one day visit in West Bengal.

Chandannagar strand is one of the most important tourist attractions of this place and it is located in the banks of river Ganga. There are many green trees in this place and you can enjoy the scenic beauty all by walking down the beautiful pavement over there. The place is famous for the scenic beauty as well as the cool breeze from the river Ganga which freshens ones mind. It is really a lovely place and one should visit this place if they had been to Chandannagar.

Chandannagar museum is also a great option for the tourists to visit this place as this one of the oldest museums of the state and Chandannagar is some way famous for this museum for this museum too. There are many antique collections in the museum which are really interesting and the place becomes worth to visit. Some of the antiques include some rare old wooden furnitures.

How to reach Chandannagar?



Reaching Chandannagar is a not a big deal as this place is close to the city of Kolkata and one can use both airways as well as railways to reach this place.

Reach Chandannagar by air - The closest airport is the Dum-Dum airport in Kolkata. This is an international airport and the distance of this airport from Chandannagar city is around 40 km. The airport is well connected to all the major cities of India as well as some international airports. You can hire a taxi from the airport to reach to this place.

Railway to Chandannagar - Railways are the cheapest way to travel to Chandannagar. There is a small station in Chandannagar and there are regular trains available to and from Chandannagar railway station. This railway station is well connected with the Howrah junction and some other cities and towns f West Bengal. There are autos and taxis available in the station for the city visit.


Climate and seasons of Chandannagar.



If you are a visitor from Kolkata or around Kolkata then you do not have to think much about the weather and climate of this place as the climate and the weather conditions of this place is similar to the city of Kolkata.
The three main seasons which can be experienced in Chandannagar are the summer, monsoons and winter. Autumn and spring are also there but with a very short span.
The summers of Chandannagar is from March to May and the temperature is from 25 degree to 35 degree Celsius and often rises to 40 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature one can experience during the summers at this place is 25 degree Celsius.
The monsoon season is the longest season which can be experienced in this place. The place receives rainfall from the South-West monsoon winds. The period of winter season is from June to September. July month receives the highest amount of rainfall in the season.

The months of October and November is the ideal time and this time is the best time to visit Chandannagar.

The winter season is from December to February. The temperature is from 12 degree Celsius to 25 degree Celsius in this place. The winters are very pleasant and healthy in this place and is also a lovely time to visit this place.
