Many industries are situated in Durgapur. One can take the permission of the authorities and visit 10km away Alloy Steel Project, 6km away Mining and Alloyed Machinery Corporation, 5km away Coke Oven Project Ltd., Durgapur Steel Plant etc.
You must visit the 692m long barrage over Damodar River. When water flows out from the barrage then the attraction increases. During the winter many migrating birds come on the banks of Damodar. On one side of Damodar river is Durgapur and on the other side is Bankura district. You can visit small but very beautiful Karo Hill, Shali Dam, Gangdoa Dam etc. All are very nice and wonderful. One will definitely enjoy at Kumarmangalam Park, Troika Park, Bhabani Pathak's Tilla (at present it is Energy Park), Phiringee Kali Bari.

How to reach and trains for Durgapur


Various trains are available from Kolkata for Durgapur. Some of them are Coalfield Express, Agnibeena Express, Black Diamond Express etc. Buses are there from Dharmatala. It takes nearly 3 hours to go by bus from Kolkata.
