Tel Koi - Delicious Bengali fish recipe


Tel Koi is a very delicious Bengali fish item. This can be served hot with steamed rice during lunch. This recipe is also easy to cook and is liked by almost every Bengalis. Read this full article to know how to prepare this hot dish in your own home.

Ingredients required for Tel Koi


Koi Fish pieces 4-5 medium sizes
1 tablespoon Onion paste
1-tablespoon Turmeric powder
1 tablespoon Ginger paste
½ tablespoon Red Chilli Powder
½ cup Mustard Oil
50 gm yogurt (beaten curd)
Salt as per taste


Method of Preparation of Tel Koi


Marinate the Fish pieces with a pinch of turmeric powder and salt.
Keep them aside for half an hour.
Now heat oil in a frying pan.
When the oil is heated, keep the gas on low flame.
Now fry the fishes one at a time till they are golden brown.
Keep them aside.
Now in the same oil give the onion paste, ginger paste, and sauté well till they are lightly brown.
Now add the turmeric, chilli powder and salt to them and fry until the oil starts to separate.
Now add the yogurt.
Now add 1/2 cup of water to them and stir well.
Now add the fishes to them and cook them on medium heat for 10-15 mins until the fish is done.
Cook it till the gravy almost dries up and the oil separate.
After removing it from flame, you can garnish it with green chillies.
Serve it hot with steamed rice.
