Ingredients required for preparing Alu Potoler Dalna
5 Medium sized Potatoes (Alu)
1 Bay Leaf
1 tablespoon Ginger Paste
1 tablespoon Cumin Paste
1 tablespoon Turmeric Powder
1 tablespoon Red Chilli Powder
½ tablespoon Cumin Seeds
½ tablespoon Garam Masala
Salt as per taste
5 tablespoon Oil
Method of Preparation of Alu Potoler Dalna
Peel off the skin of Potols and cut them into halves.
Peel off the skin of potatoes and cut them into 4 pieces.
Heat oil in a frying pan.
Fry the potatoes till they are golden brown and keep them aside.
Fry the potatoes till they become lightly brown and keep them aside.
Now in the same oil, add the bay leaf and the cumin seeds.
Once they splutter add the ginger paste, cumin paste, and sauté them properly for 2-3 mins in low flame.
Sprinkle little water if necessary.
Now add the potatoes to it and then add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt.
Add 1 cup of water to them and sauté it well.
Now add the potols to them and stir occasionally.
Now cook it for another 5-6 mins with cover or till the potols and potatoes are done.
The gravy must be slightly thick.
Before removing it from flame, just sprinkle a half spoon of garam masala from top and mix well.
Serve it hot with rice or chapattis.
