Marble Palace was built in the nineteenth century and is famous for its neo-classical European architecture. It has beautiful marble walls, huge lawn and magnificent interiors. It is very decent in looks and thus one of the famous tourist destinations in West Bengal.

The Marble Palace was built by Rajendra Mullick and was named by Lord Minto. The palace got its name as marble palace as marbles from different countries were used in its construction. It is said that marbles of more than 126 types are used to build this palace.

Marble Palace is located near Chorbagan in North Kolkata. It is present on the Muktaram Babu street.

The Marble palace itself is so stunning that you will feel compelled to visit this place again and again. Marbles of more than 165 types are used in its construction and there is use of Italian Marble mainly which increase its charm. There are also anumber of statues of Virgin Mary, Jesus Christ, Christopher Columbus and Lord Buddha. These statues are also built with a lot of care and are worth looking at. Moreover there are also some sculptures of lions which are also very good looking.
On the first floor you will find the fully mirrored rooms where the works of Reynolds, Rubens and Murillo are displayed. The most popular paintings here are "The Marriage of St. Catherine" and " The Martyrdom of S Sebastian". You will also find a number of other unique items present here that include European antiques, old pianos, and a large collection of 82 exquisite clocks. Again there is also a marble palace zoo that has a variety of animals including the hornbills, storks, pelicans and different kinds of birds also.
