Ingredients required for Dhokar Dalna
2 Cups Chana Dal
2 Medium Sized Potatoes
1 tablespoon Ginger Garlic paste
½ tablespoon Turmeric powder
½ tablespoon Red Chiili powder
½ tablespoon Cumin seeds
1 Bay Leaf
Salt to taste
½ tablespoon Ghee
Oil as required
Method of preparation of Dhokar Dalna
Wash and soak the chana dal in water for about 8 hrs.
Drain water and then grind it to a paste in a mixer.
Add a pinch of salt and sugar in to the paste and mix it.
Now heat oil in a frying pan.
Pour the chana dal mixer and cook it till soft.
But it should not be fully dried.
Now smear a pinch of ghee in a dish.
Pour the cooked dal and spread evenly on the dish.
Let it cool for few hrs.
In the meantime cut the potatoes into 4 cubes.
Now cut the cooled dhoka mixture on the dish into cubes on one inch.
Heat oil in a frying pan and fry those dhokas until they turn light brown.
Keep them aside.
Now in the same oil fry the potatoes until they turn light brown and keep them aside.
Now in a separate frying pan heat oil.
Add the cumin seeds and bay leaf.
Fry them till they stop spluttering.
Add the ginger garlic paste and turmeric powder and fry for 5-6 mins.
Sprinkle water to avoid sticking.
Once the oil starts coming out, add the potatoes and the red chilli powder and fry them for few more mins.
Now add two cups of water to them and stir.
Add a pinch of salt as required.
Now add the fried dhokas.
Bring to boil for about 10 mins.
Serve hot with chapattis or hot rice.
