Biography of Ganesh Pyne :
Famous Indian Painter Ganesh Pyne was born in Kolkata in the year 1937. After completing his schooling he joined at Government College of Art & Craft in Kolkata. In 1959, He had received his diploma in drawing and painting. Pyne's past says that, He grew up on his grandmother's stories like fold stories, mythological stories, and fairy tales. From the begining Pyne was very much influenced by brothers Abanindranath Tagore and Gaganendranath Tagore.
Pyne had did many water colours also. After completing graduation from art college, Pyne had strictly decided for not doing a full time job. In the early '60s,For some part of his quality day sketching he animated films made at a studio of Mandar Mullick. In 1963, he joined himself with the newly-formed Society of Contemporary Artists.
Surprisingly he presented his first solo exhibition in 1988 at The Village Gallery of New Delhi. He had often spent several evenings in Kolkata cafeswith his friends discussing communism and Picasso. Pyne's first painting was 'Winter's Morning' which showed an structure of Pyne and his brother going to school. This was really superb.
Ganesh Pyne had continued his experiments on Arts with various media. Ganesh Pyne had also drawn inspiration from Bengal`s rich storehouse of legends. Mainly, his subjects were based upon either hunters or prey and Dark shadows always dominated his canvases beautifully. Certain characters like boats, bits of bone, dark doors and windows, birdman, Chaitanya(the leader of the Bhakti movements), animals, often represented repeatedly in most of his works .

Ganesh Pyne has achieved fame with many awards like Awarded Shiromani Puraskar, Calcutta in 1985, Artist of the Year, Sangeet Shyamala, Calcutta in 1978, Awarded by Birla Academy of Art and Culture, Calcutta in 1973, Awarded by Academy of Fine Arts and Culture , Kolkata in 1957, Awarded by Calcutta Art Society, Calcutta in 1956.
