With the famous ancient name Vajra-bhumi, Parulia is the westernmost district of West Bengal. Due to its huge convenient location this district has a great importance in the tourist map of India. Including an awesome scenic beauty of natural forests of Ayodhya, Matha and Kuilapal, falls and Bagmundih, dams like Panchet, heritage building like Panchakot Raj Place, trekking range of Matha proud with Pakhi Pahar, and Joychandi Pahar, picnic spots like Duarsini, Doladanga are the major attractions in Parulia.



Purulia District of West BengalOne of the westernmost district of West Bengal called Parulia consists a qualtative importance for its triopic sites. Basically this district is the gateway between the many metro cities of West Bengal to its neighbour states like Jharkhand, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. This place is a gigantic tourist attraction throughout the year.

The graphical location of Purulia district shows its place between 22.60 degrees and 23.50 degrees north latitudes along with 85.75 degrees and 86.65 degrees east longitudes. Parulia is bounded by Bankura district in the east and Paschim Medinipur districts on the north placed with Bardhaman District of West Bengal and Dhanbad district of Jharkhand , to the west of Purulia is Bokaro and Ranchi districts of Jharkhand state and the West Singhbhum on the south and East Singhbhum districts of Jharkhand state. These all mixed to provide a superb scenic beauty for the visitors here.

Tourism in Purulia District


A huge archaeological place of interest are waiting for the tourists here. Out of them temples of Deulghera are well famous for their superb construction. Tourist can observe the sculptures of terracotta in these temples. Awesome scenic beauties of hills, waterfalls and dams also attracts visitors through out the year.

One of the beautiful village called Banda is a well known tourist place in Purulia district. A solitary temple built in the "rekha" style, using of broken amalaka is an important dedication of this village. The most interesting things, Tourist can observe the quality construction and decoration in both inner and outer section of the temple.

Cheliama is the biggest village of Parulia has its great importance in the field of tourism of Purulia. This 17th century creation shows the relation of this village with rich historical interest. One of the famous tourist temple, namely Radha-Govinda Temple, which is the superb spot of the Bengali Culture prevalent in the total era.

Deulghat is the most beautiful place of devotees suggests its name is the land of temples. It consists of the ruins of 15 temples nearby the Kansai River. Tourist can be able to see the beautiful stucco decoration is the quality creation spreaded on the temple. However these temples are famous as the most historic representations of their age, when they were established.

Moreover the superb temples of Suissa consists a number of ironic images in the adjoining regions, which can be easily observed by the tourists. These ironic images basically include the unusual pose of some mythological gods and the goddesses.

Parulia also consists its muslim relics called Para. These archaeological relics and the beautiful temples helps the tourism industry of Purulia to a great extent.

How to Reach Purulia District


Purulia is very well accessible by roadway and trainway from any part of India. It is of about 295 Km away from the twin city Kolkata towards west and about 119 Km from Ranchi town in east. Two major roadway like National Highway - 32 and National Highway - 60A runs through the Parulia District. Roadway is best fascilated with SBSTC, CSTC, NBSTC buses and many privately buses runs between Kolkata, Bokaro, Ranchi, Dhanbad, Asansol, Durgapur to Purulia.
