Paschim Banga, our new West Bengal
Paschim Banga is the New name of West Bengal as decided by the latest meeting. Well we say Change is the law and change only brings some new hopes in the mind of the people. Our new Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee is planning for some new changes in the state and well she is somewhat successful too in her act of implementing things. Paschim Banga is a new change for our state and this change reflects that there is something good behind this name. The new name was decided in a meeting of the working party with the other parties of Bengal.
Advantages behind the name Paschim Banga
As said by Partha Chatterjee "It has been unanimously decided that the state's new name will be Paschim Banga from now in all languages"
"We wanted a change in the name of the state to get the administrative advantage"
Partha Chatterjee declared that the new name of West Bengal will be Paschim Banga in all languages. His words are stated above and this clearly means us that for a better administration they are willing to change the name of West Bengal to Pascim Banga.
So, people of Bengal must be interested in knowing the answer to this question that How the name Pascim Banga will give some administrative advantages to the state? The answer to this question is the word 'P' of Paschim Banga is alphabetically before the word 'W' of West Bengal. Therefore in the hearings the state will get a chance before to speak and the listeners too will have be taking the matters more positively as when it is 'W', the chance to speak is minimised as we get the chance at the end.
Partha Chatterjee also said "Paschim Banga as a new name also mirrors history". This means that the new name will have some significance with the history of Bengal.
People's opinion on the new name of West Bengal
The people of Bengal do not actually have any problem with the change in name and rather they are satisfied with the new name.
Comments made by film director Rituparno Ghosh in the new name, Paschim Benga - "Except for administrative purposes we do not use 'West Bengal'. We are more familiar with the name 'Bengal', which would have been the ideal replacement. West Bengal has a tragic history of partition and we do not want to carry it along."
Some people also suggested some other names
like Father Felix Raj, principal of St Xavier's College, said - "I feel it would have made more sense if it were just Bengal or Bongo."
According to the polls taking place on diferent websites, people are suggesting the name Bongo or Bengal. Some people also say that the name is very complicated to pronounce.
