Semester 1 trains about basics like Film Language basics, film appreciation, basic technique of script writing, basics of film direction, still photography theory and practical, basic principals of videography & editing, meeting a film maker session, six shot exercise-shot and edited by each student as practical.

Semester 2 consists of sound and light direction like Appreciation of western classical music, Screen play writing, basics of audiography, applied audio, lighting practical, editing practical, dynamising a sequence, workshops on makeup & set design, meeting a film maker section, a short film of 5 minutes – short and edited by each student.

Semester 3 deals with Study of documentary films, documentary workshops, edit practical (online), lighting practical (multi camera), appreciation of India Music, playback, understanding acting, production designing, workshops on screenplay for project film.

Semester 4 trains how to do Budget breakdown, submission & approval of script & preparation for project film. A project in the form of a 15 minute film is made by students which is shot and edited by them.

Eligibility criteria for admission in Kolkata Film & Television Institute (KFTI)

There is no age limit for admission. The minimum educational qualification required is 10+2 or equivalent in any stream.
